Back in Montreal: Life Update

It has been a bit since I’ve done a life update, so I figured I’d jump on and let you all in on the changes happening in our family!

Kelowna

The House: I shared as much as we could of our Kelowna home this summer. We started renovations in the fall of 2020, right before COVID hit, so there were some delays along the way, but we are finally nearing the finish line! If you missed any of the room reveals I did, you can find them HERE. I didn’t share the entire house, because it is not quite done, but there will be a full reveal next summer ...so stay tuned!

The Summer: We had a great summer in Kelowna, but boy did it fly by! We traveled around BC and down to Washington quite a bit. Carey and I felt like we were constantly on the road all summer long, but it was so nice to see all of our family and friends. We didn’t get to camp as much as we’d hoped, because it was crazy hot and with all the construction still happening outside of our home, it was not an easy task to get the airstream in and out!

We felt like we got to re-discover Kelowna this summer. We hadn’t been there at all during COVID, so we really soaked up every moment and it felt like we were finally finding our groove just as we had to return to Montreal. We will all be excited to return next summer. I also plan to do a blog post in the future with all of our favorite Kelowna spots!

Montreal

Our Routine: We have only been back in Montreal for a week, but we are already back into our normal groove. The kids are all back at school or preschool and everyone is happy to be back, Liv especially. We have the best neighborhood (in the world, it feels like it’s right out of a movie!) so Liv has a group of best friends just steps from our front door. This is very different from Kelowna, where she doesn’t really have many friends and our home is on the edge of town, quite far from any neighbors.

I am happy to be back on Eastern Standard Time! Everyone I work with is on the East Coast, so when we were in Kelowna and I woke up at 6:00am, I already felt like I was running behind! It is also easier for me to meet with suppliers and keep things running smoothly from here.

Hockey Life: This hockey season will look different for us, however. If you have not been following along, Carey underwent knee surgery last summer and the recovery has not gone according to plan. As I have said before, I think Carey and the team have been very honest and upfront with his situation, so I do not have anything more to add. You can get all of the information in THIS ARTICLE from mid-August.

So for now, it is business as usual for me and the kids. Carey will work on navigating his new normal for the time being and we will be there, as we always are, supporting him every step of the way. So many of you have reached out with such kind messages and on my Instagram, I put up a post where fans can write Carey a message and I would have him read it. You can find that post HERE. I can’t help but tear up reading those comments. I guess after all this time it is still hard to fully grasp what Carey has meant to the city of Montreal and to the hockey world. It is still hard for me to find the right words to comment on, so I won’t go too much into it at this time. We are all doing well though, even Carey is doing as well as can be expected. I am so happy and proud that he took the time last season to focus on his mental health and develop the tools he will need to help him through this period.

I am so grateful to all of you for following along and supporting our family. We appreciate all of the kindness and love, no matter what season we are in! So make sure to stay tuned, because I’m sure the next few months will be full of exciting adventures and really great family moments!

Much Love,
