Celebrating St. Patrick's Day with Kids

In our house, we’ll take any excuse to celebrate a fun day! St. Patrick’s Day is all about the Irish, but who says we can’t still dress up in green, read a great book and enjoy some yummy pancakes? Here are a few ways we’re celebrating with our little ones.

Leprechaun Pancakes

I found this recipe on Kitchen Fun With my 3 Sons and I think it would be such a fun breakfast to celebrate St. Patrick’s Day!

INGREDIENTS:

  • pancake mix

  • 1 clementine

  • green grapes

  • 3 mini marshmallows

  • 2 chocolate chips

  • 1 strawberry or red apple

INSTRUCTIONS:

  1. Make a medium-sized pancake in a pan over low heat. You can cut around the edges using scissors or a round cookie cutter.

  2. Put your circular pancake on a plate and cut out ears with the scraps.

  3. Peel the clementine and place the orange slices around the bottom to look like a beard.

  4. Cut the green grapes in half and place them around the top in a hat shape.

  5. Cut the tip off of one grape to make the nose.

  6. Cut the ends off of the mini marshmallows and use them for two eyes.

  7. Place two chocolate chips on top for the pupils.

  8. Cut the other marshmallow ends into heart shapes with your scissors and place them in the shape of a clover to place on top of the hat.

  9. Enjoy your St. Patrick’s Day pancakes!
