Happy new year friends! 2016 was simply amazing but I know 2017 has even more to offer and I am anxious to get this new year going. A lot of people do not like new year resolutions, but I love them. I really enjoy setting goals for myself and feel like they keep me motivated throughout the year. I do make specific goals with time frames and deadlines but for my new year resolution, I like to keep a bit more general and basic. That way I am not beating myself up over not keeping to a specific timetable.
Make this year a year of finding, of fulfillment, of joy, peace and purpose.
My new year's resolution this year is all about my blog. I started my blog about a year and a half ago really not thinking much of it. I thought my family and friends would follow along, I never knew that so many people would be so interested in our little life. Needless to say, I was not prepared for how fast my blog grew and I let it get out of hand. Throwing together posts last minute with snapshots from my phone is fine, but I know I can do better. I am going to do better. My goal is to put more thought into my post subjects and really focus on creating quality shareable pieces. Since I will be planning out posts more I will have time to put more effort in the accompanying photos. I will put aside time each week to tackle that ever-growing inbox and try to respond more to comments and social media.
The key to keeping my resolutions is putting some thought into how I am going to achieve my goals and figuring out ways to keep me motivated. For me this year my main issue is time. With a new baby at home, it can be hard to set aside time to work on the blog. So, first things first...how am I going to find the time? I will start by making a little play corner in my office to keep Liv busy while I am working on the computer. This will become a bit more difficult once she is mobile but we will cross that bridge when we get there. Also, once a month I will give myself an entire afternoon to get organized and plan and write posts for the upcoming month. I will try to do this when the family is in town so they can watch Liv but if need be I will get a sitter. Lastly, how am I going to stay motivated? I am freshening up my office to make it a more enjoyable space. A few cute items for my desk some new art, candles and my guilty pleasure, fresh flowers! (I have fake ones in the photo for when I am in between) I will never want to leave this room.
What is your new year's resolutions? How do you stay motivated through the year?
