I remember in college sitting out by the bonfire with my roommates discussing the most random things over a bottle of wine. We would get into some super random conversations, that would eventually lead one of us inside to our computer where we would google the correct answer and see who was right. It is funny thinking about that because now we don't even have to get up, we just pull out our phones and get the answer immediately. Kids these days will never understand the hassle of going inside and having to start up your computer, haha. What is super crazy though is the new generation will never even have to pick up their phones. We will just have to ask the question out loud, and then a mysterious voice will give us the answer. That mysterious voice being your Google Home, a hands-free smart speaker.
Happy Thursday gang! I am finally feeling 100 percent healthy again, thank goodness! I went from some sort of virus to a bad cold, to a sinus infection...ugh, it was an awful couple of weeks! Next week is not only Valentines day, but the hubby also has four days off, so I am relieved that I am feeling better in time for that!
We have an unspoken tradition in our home. For just about every holiday I make a themed breakfast. It is usually nothing too fancy, just something fun to do. Just about every Valentine's day I make heart pancakes. We usually indulge on holidays, but this year I wanted to make healthy ones so that the baby could eat them as well. I tested them out last week, and they turned out great!
Good morning! Last week we did our third year of "Shooting for the Stars" with the Breakfast Club of Canada and The Air Canada Foundation. Each year we pick three kids from the communities Carey grew up in, and we fly them to Montreal for a VIP experience. This consists of a first class flight, some one on one time on the ice with Carey followed by watching a Habs game from the Air Canada suite at the Bell Center. An experience of a lifetime for some of these kids!
Carey and I always look forward to this event. It is one thing to give financially or give your time in a general way. It is rare to give back in this format, where you get this one on one time with just a couple kids. It was a great experience, so I wanted to share a few photos.
Happy new year friends! 2016 was simply amazing but I know 2017 has even more to offer and I am anxious to get this new year going. A lot of people do not like new year resolutions, but I love them. I really enjoy setting goals for myself and feel like they keep me motivated throughout the year. I do make specific goals with time frames and deadlines but for my new year resolution, I like to keep a bit more general and basic. That way I am not beating myself up over not keeping to a specific timetable.
Make this year a year of finding, of fulfillment, of joy, peace and purpose.
Christmas is this Sunday!!! I feel like we have been in the holiday spirit in our house for quite awhile now ( we did have the tree up mid-November, so that may have something to do with it). So we are ready for Christmas to actually be here. To say we are excited for Liv's first Christmas is a bit of an understatement. We did not go crazy with gifts or anything, we have just been having fun decking the house out in Christmas decor and creating new family traditions.
We did family photos a few weeks ago and did a few Christmas themed photos. I normally wouldn't share these types of photos but they are just so sweet, how do I not?! And Mari from Mari Photographe is just so darn talented I had to share.
