Make this year a year of finding, of fulfillment, of joy, peace and purpose.
Happy new year friends! 2016 was simply amazing but I know 2017 has even more to offer and I am anxious to get this new year going. A lot of people do not like new year resolutions, but I love them. I really enjoy setting goals for myself and feel like they keep me motivated throughout the year. I do make specific goals with time frames and deadlines but for my new year resolution, I like to keep a bit more general and basic. That way I am not beating myself up over not keeping to a specific timetable.
Okay, so I am not playing Christmas music or anything (yet) but I am starting to get prepared for the holiday season. I actually had my sister face time me yesterday so I could walk through the holiday decor section of Target with her, haha oh how I miss that store being in Canada!
I have great memories from when I was a little girl and our home being decorated for Christmas. My mother went all out every year, we would pack up all the year round decor and then pull out the boxes and boxes of Christmas decorations. The house felt so warm and comforting. I want Liv to have those same memories of Christmas in our home. I do realize I have a few years before she will be able to know a difference but I am excited to go ahead and get the traditions started. And It is kind of perfect timing...Last year we had a problem with our thermostat in our basement and our closet where we keep the directions got very hot. So hot in fact it melted the candles that were packed in our Christmas decor boxes. Most of the stuff was ruined and ended up getting thrown out. So I am pretty much starting from scratch this season. I am not going on a crazy shopping spree, but I do have an idea of the look and feel I want. So I can hit up stores like Home Sense/ Home Goods and know exactly what I need. When I walk in to the stores I am overwhelmed with all the decorations, it is easy to lose focus, haha. I am a sucker for anything Pottery Barn but most of those items are bit more expensive so I may wait until after the holiday and pick it up on sale to use next year.
Here are some of my favorite items I have saved and bookmarked so far. I like to keep holiday decorations pretty classic, nothing too modern. I am loving the plaid mixed with faux fur so I think that is my focus for now (pretty much a guarantee I can find those things at Home Sense) I am also keeping my eye out for a few things to make Liv's room a bit more festive for the holidays.
Good morning! There is still not a lot of sleep happening in the house but I think my body is finally adjusting...thank goodness!
Today I am touching on home decor. We renovated this past winter so I have been hoping to share a lot of before and after shots, but I have not had the chance. We were not thrilled with some of the work done in our home so we have been going back and forth with the contractor all summer and keep having people in our home trying to fix the issues. It has been such a pain and the last thing I have wanted to deal with...so annoying! But I wanted to go ahead with some decor posts since summer is almost over for us!
This is our guest room. It is a pretty small room so I tried to focus on the small details. Pretty much everything I found at Home Sense/TJ Maxx. I am constantly stopping by these stores to just do a walk through and see if anything catches my eye.
Well I am keeping todays post short and sweet because I have a tired baby on my hands! Next week I will be doing a baby update because our little girls is already 3 months old!!
Have a great weekend.
Hi all! Todays post is from last week in Kelowna. We had quite a bit of family in town so we threw a little dinner party. I don't know what it is but there is something about a well put together table that makes the evening more enjoyable. Dinner parties are few and far between these days so I thought I better snap some pictures.
The small details are what really makes the table feel more put together. The rustic cheese knives and cork screws are a fun unique touch. What really makes this table though are the napkins. I got these from the talented Kate Golding. The art on the napkins are hand drawn, and are so beautiful. These coyote print fits perfectly with our decor and the "feel" of our home. They actually ended up being quite a conversation piece at dinner.
Anyways, I hope you all are enjoying the summer and able to throw some dinner parties of your own!
Lots of Love,

Hey guys! So I thought I was going to get better at posting but that has not happened. We just have been too busy traveling and enjoying the outdoors. I did get some great photos when I was in the states though, so some fun posts coming soon! We were in Washington for the long weekend, we do an annual 4th of July celebration with our close group of friends. (I know a lot of people were offended by my #tbt post on Instagram, but I am a proud and unapologetic American who is just temperately living in Canada...like it or not.) You can check out last years celebration on Champagne and Shimmer. This year was a bit different having the babe, but was still a huge success. I will try to get some photos uploaded this weekend!
We are now back in Kelowna, for now. The hubs is heading to the stampede this weekend then we are back on the road next week. My sister and nephew are in town to help out a bit, so I am able to play catch up around the house. The weather here is suppose to get chilly and rainy the next few days which I am actually kind of looking forward to. It is hard to stay in the house and get work done when its beautiful out!
Speaking of the outdoors, I snapped some pictures a couple weeks ago of our back patio. We spend a lot of time out there and it is the small details that really make the space feel like an extension of the indoors.
I wanted to link where you can purchase all this stuff but honestly I got them at the most random stores. The candle I think is from Target, the flower and pot from Winners/TJ Maxx and the ash tray from the 'Ye Olde Curiosity Shop' in Seattle. If you are ever down by the pier in Seattle it is worth a stop!
Hope everyone is gearing up for a great weekend!
Lots of Love,
